Distance learning can indeed be appealing. It offers two main advantages in my opinion: flexibility in the learning path and lower cost.

However, it seems crucial to me to ensure your success as a student to have a serious, motivating, and realistic framework facing the challenges of this field. It must provide you with all the necessary tools for the exam.

To help you choose your remote BTS Dietetics program, I compared the 6 private training courses currently available according to 4 main criteria. Each has been evaluated and rated.

Schools analyzed: Studi (brand Academee), Skill and You (brands Be Academie, Educatel), L’atelier des Chefs, Etudis (Adonis), E-Diderot, and IFSNM.

Methodology

To compare the institutions offering this remote BTS, I determined four main criteria to evaluate and differentiate them. 

Each criterion is given a rating out of 5, based on the information gathered and my discussions with each school. The average of the four determines the final selection.

1. Educational and Academic Quality

The first criterion first verifies the school’s quality labels and the recognition of the obtained degree, as well as the teachers’ qualifications.

Most schools also estimate an average number of teaching hours for the two years of BTS Dietetics, although the student manages their work time independently. 

Various educational resources are also made available and evaluated based on their relevance and the duration of access to the various resources.

Unfortunately, I was unable to appreciate the success rate despite it being an important argument. Most schools do not specify it or simply declare it without any means of verification. 

Indeed, the education office does not distinguish between students: public, private, remote, in-person, or independent candidates. The national success rate of the BTS Dietetics is on average below 50%. 

2. Accessibility and Student Support

The second criterion compares the presence of tutoring and personalized support for the student. Between internships, a thesis to write, and written exams, support is important.

The possibility to interact with teachers, other students, and how often proves to be a positive point for the concerned schools.

Finally, I attach importance to administrative support, such as exam registration and internship agreements.

3. Cost and Additional Services

Prices for distance learning and financing solutions vary from one school to another. This is obviously part of the selection criteria.

Several educational options are available, included or paid: coaching, specific subjects, and others. Their relevance is part of the rating for this criterion.

I also found it interesting to compare the duration of access to resources and the possibility of in-person sessions for certain schools.

4. Opportunities and Recognition

The BTS in dietetics includes mandatory internships: 20 weeks in total. In collective catering or in the hospital sector, some schools can help you find them more easily.

I took into account the employment support. Some schools care about it, and I find this point essential. Although none can provide figures regarding employability that could assess this reality of the profession.

Finally, reading reviews on student forums as well as online ratings completes my analysis of the six chosen distance learning providers.

The professional reality of L’atelier des Chefs is an asset for learning the dietitian’s profession. Pedagogy, content, and practice are at the heart of the training. The human contact and proximity of the teachers place it at the top of the ranking.

Initially recognized for its cooking classes, L’atelier des Chefs stands out for the richness of its content and its professional approach. 

Qualiopi certified and validated by experts, Best Craftsmen of France, it has recently diversified by offering degree programs online. 

A refresher course is included for students who need it. The modules follow the national framework, ensuring good preparation for exams.

The online support offers content available for up to 3 years:

• written courses
• live courses or available in replay
• videos and podcasts freely accessible.

A two-day in-person internship, in the Paris region, to prepare for the ATA test, Technological Food Activities, is possible.

The educational advisor mentions quality teachers, dietitians, and chefs, names them, and cites their profiles on the networks. A human approach seems to be at the heart of the approach, explaining the student-teacher interactions, corrections, and the possibilities for questions and answers.

A downside according to me: thesis coaching is chargeable, as for many schools. However, the all-inclusive training price remains within averages and is not the highest on the market.

With a solid professional network, L’atelier des Chefs offers good prospects both for internships and post-diploma professional integration. 

A “recruitment forum” is also available for students. A business creation coaching is also offered, for an additional fee, and may suit depending on your project.

In summary, the Skill and You platform offers quality training. The possibility of keeping exam scores above average for 5 years is explained and shows honesty regarding the difficulty level of this BTS. Its competitive price payable in 36 installments makes it accessible to more people.

Skill and You is one of the European leaders in distance learning, bringing together several specialized schools, including Be Académie and Educatel. The 3 brands offer the same remote dietetics BTS.

The school highlights its flexibility and modern digital tools: intuitive platform, interactive virtual classes, mobile application, and well-structured digital educational materials.

Cooking videos are also accessible, as well as a student area available 24/7 to facilitate exchanges. 

The school mentions a partnership with Hellowork to facilitate access to job and internship searches.

Educational options such as leveling, life coaching, and TOEIC are available (for a fee).

The school has managed to evolve with new technologies, offering interactive remote training certified Qualiopi. Modern digital tools like an app and an intuitive platform are part of their offerings.

Flexible packages from “initial” to “comprehensive” are presented to suit the needs and budgets of students.

However, the most comprehensive packages seem the most interesting pedagogically and thus the most expensive. These are the “enhanced” and “comprehensive” packages. 

They of course include the e-learning platform, but also individual educational coaching, virtual classes, several practice exams, a dissertation correction, all the essentials to be ready to take the exam.

I really like the active pedagogy emphasized: giving the lessons before class time, thus accessible at any time, before and after the exercises.

As well as the possibility of physically accessing the nearest campuses. For students feeling lonely or needing to work outside the home, it’s a significant asset.

E-Diderot also offers many very interesting additional options, again for a fee: such as sports training for nutritional support.

The Adonis group boasts many years of experience in education both in-person and online. However, their offer stands out little from others and remains vague on support and the cooking internship.

Recognized for its expertise in dietetics and paramedics, Etudis from the ADONIS group specialized in health and nutrition training, offers an online version for about ten years.

The teachers are all professionals in their subjects and there is a space dedicated to student-teacher interactions. Phone appointments are possible, depending on the chosen package.

Indeed, four different packages provide access to personalized support, live classes, and even oral simulations.

Again, the cost is quite high once some options, yet essential for the successful completion of this distance course, are chosen.

Another point, a leveling course is said to be mandatory for non-science students (additional cost).

The courses are structured using paper and digital materials. Regular assignments are required for knowledge assessment, and personalized corrections are provided.

Adonis mentions an option for in-person cooking classes in certain cities, provided there are enough enrolled students (no further details).

An expanded professional network for internships highlights the opportunity possibilities. Furthermore, two programs after the BTS Dietetics are offered that may interest future graduates.

The school highlights its e-learning expertise and career coaching to support each project. The pedagogical approach is less convincing, with courses accessible only step by step, lacking response on the number of mock exams available and the possibility of completing the diploma in 1 year.

In 1999, Studi and the M6 group created a 100% online school called Academee. This corresponds to the early days of the internet. In 2021, Studi and Academee are diving into training future health professionals. 

E-learning and numerous digital partnerships (like Galileo Global Education) show a real intent to provide innovative and enjoyable learning tools.

The platform, available for 2 years, is also accessible via an app: over 4000 live courses delivered by dietitians, doctors, and specialized teachers, with replays, and downloadable pdf courses…

Academee also provides access to student chats and encourages exchanges between students and teachers. They promise answers to questions within 24 hours at most. 

I found little information on the help with thesis writing and its necessity for the exam on the website. But I got information by phone: support with a dedicated teacher would be included.

There is a missing piece of information that I think would be useful: the number of mock exams included in the program, which I think is useful to know.

Finally, the school emphasizes the career coaching included in the training. It amounts to 40 hours of tutoring to assist with internship searches, facilitate professional integration, and obtain a “Ready for work” certificate.

Academee thus presents a certain professional realism, without providing a true professional network either. However, I found the repeated mention of completing this BTS in 1 year, both on the site and by phone, unrealistic.

This training institute is specialized solely in the field of nutrition. For this first year, there is a certain lack of perspective on the exact number of mock exams, the actual personalized support that students might receive, and the diploma to be taken in 1 year. The cost is quite high.

The Institute of Higher Education in Nutrition and Micronutrition (IFSNM) offers the BTS Dietetics remotely for the 1st year. This 100% online program was created by health professionals. 

The educational team also includes scientists: pharmacists and dietitians.

The institute aims to provide comprehensive educational support. Currently, tutoring is estimated at an average of 10 sessions per year. 

The IFSNM highlights an interactive pedagogy with quizzes, virtual classes, and practical exercises in continuous assessment, while offering long-term access to resources after the training.

However, this information is contradicted by phone as I was told about access for only 24 months. Only one mock exam is planned for now.

The BTS is also possible in 1 year, intensively. By phone, I mention a possible need for leveling for non-scientists, the response seems quite unrealistic to me: “it’s not necessary”.

Although the institute values personalized support, assistance for internship searches and post-diploma professional life does not appear to be a priority at the moment.

I find the approach to the profession interesting, with nutrition and micronutrition focus. Graduated dietitians can also choose specific training.

My Tips for Choosing Your Distance BTS Dietetics Well

It is not easy to choose the right training. The stakes are high as preparing for the Advanced Technician’s Certificate in Dietetics remotely can be more challenging than in person.

A commercial interest certainly drives these private schools, but this is also the case for in-person training. The interlocutors can be more or less convincing, without proving the seriousness of the content delivered later.

I therefore advise you to compare fees as well as financing options according to your situation. Also, pay attention to the flexibility and practical tools you need.

Another tip, don’t hesitate to contact former students to know their opinion and experience. To do this, simply search by keyword on LinkedIn.

Self-discipline, organizational skills, scientific competencies, and motivation are the major assets that will make the greatest difference.
