Like many higher education diplomas, the BTS in Dietetics is dense and demanding. It is essential for those who wish to practice the profession of dietitian-nutritionist either independently or as an employee.
Whether in-person or fully online, the program lasts two years, paced by a scientific program that covers culinary techniques, pathophysiology, and biochemistry.
Distance learning can indeed be appealing. It offers two main advantages in my view: flexibility in the learning path and lower cost.
However, I believe it’s crucial for your success as a student to have a serious, motivating, and realistic framework considering the challenges of this field. It must provide you with all the tools necessary for the exam.
To help you choose your remote BTS in dietetics, I compared the 6 private programs currently available based on 4 key criteria. Each one has been evaluated and scored.
Schools analyzed: Studi (brand Academee), Skill and You (brands Be Academie, Educatel), L’atelier des Chefs, Etudis (Adonis), E-Diderot, and IFSNM.
We independently evaluate all programs. If you click on one of the provided links, a commission may be awarded to us.
Methodology
To compare the institutions offering this BTS remotely, I determined four main criteria for evaluation and differentiation.
Each criterion is assigned a score out of 5, based on gathered information and my discussions with each school. The average of the four determines the final selection.
1. Pedagogical and Academic Quality
The first criterion first checks the school’s quality labels and the recognition of the obtained diploma, as well as the qualification of the teachers.
Most schools also estimate a number of average teaching hours for the two years of the BTS in Dietetics, although the student manages their own study time.
Different educational supports are also provided and assessed according to their relevance and the duration of access to various resources.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to assess the success rate which seems to me to be an important argument. Most schools do not specify it or it remains self-declared without any means of verification.
In fact, the education authority does not differentiate students: public, private, remote, in-person, or independent candidates. The national success rate for the BTS in dietetics is on average below 50%.
2. Accessibility and Student Support
The second criterion compares the presence of tutoring and personalized support for the student. Between internships, a dissertation to write, and written exams, support is important.
The possibility of interacting with teachers, other students and how frequently, turns out to be a positive point for the concerned schools.
Finally, I emphasize the importance of administrative support, such as exam registration and internship agreements.
3. Cost and Additional Services
The prices for distance learning and financing solutions vary from one school to another. This is obviously part of the selection criteria.
Several educational options are available, included or paid: coaching, specific subjects, and others. Their relevance contributes to the rating of this criterion.
I also found it interesting to compare the access duration to resources and the possibility of in-person sessions at certain schools.
4. Opportunities and Recognition
The BTS dietetics includes mandatory internships: 20 weeks in total. In collective catering or the hospital sector, some schools can help you find them more easily.
I took into account employment support. Some schools care about this and I find this point essential. Although none can establish figures regarding professional integration that could allow evaluating this aspect of the profession.
Finally, reading the reviews on student forums and online ratings completes my analysis of the six chosen distance education providers.
Best Online BTS Dietetics
# Best Online BTS Dietetics 🥇
L’atelier des Chefs: 19/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★★
Support : ★★★★★
Coûts : ★★★★★
Débouchés : ★★★★☆
Price: €3490 – CPF Fundable
The professional reality of L’atelier des Chefs is an asset for learning the dietitian profession. Pedagogy, content, and practice are at the heart of the training. The human contact and proximity to instructors place it at the top of the ranking.
Advantages
- Professional network
- Student and alumni network
- Teacher qualifications
- Opportunity for in-person internship for the ATA exam
- Overall success rate, all courses included, of 97%
Drawbacks
- Paid thesis coaching
- Lack of insight due to the recent creation of the curriculum
Initially recognized for its cooking classes, L’atelier des Chefs stands out for its rich content and professional approach.
Certified Qualiopi and validated by experts, Best Workers of France, it has recently diversified by offering diploma courses remotely.
A bridging course is included for students who need it. The modules follow the national framework, ensuring good exam preparation.
The online support offers content available for up to 3 years:
- written courses
- live courses or available on replay
- videos and podcasts in free access.
A two-day in-person workshop, in the Paris region, to prepare for the ATA exam, Technological Food Activities, is possible.
The pedagogical advisor talks about quality instructors, dietitians, and chefs, names them, and mentions their profile on networks. A human approach seems to be at the heart of the approach by explaining student-teacher interactions, corrections, and the possibilities for Q&A.
There is personalized support with an industry expert for technical questions, and a coach for motivation and other questions.
A downside in my opinion: thesis coaching is paid, as is the case with many schools. However, the all-inclusive training price remains within the averages and is not the highest on the market.
With a solid professional network, L’atelier des Chefs offers good prospects for both internships and post-diploma professional integration.
A “recruitment forum” is available to students. Business creation coaching is also offered as an extra and can be suitable depending on your project.
# Best Alternative
Skill and You: 16/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★★☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★★☆
Price: €3470 – CPF Fundable
In summary, the Skill and You platform offers quality training. The option to retain exam grades above average for 5 years is explained, demonstrating honesty regarding the difficulty level of this BTS. Its competitive price payable in 36 installments makes it more accessible to a broader audience.
Advantages
- Competitive cost
- Digital tools
- Access to the platform for 48 months
- Teachers selected for their qualifications and professional backgrounds
- Commitment to providing personalized support: corrections, coaching…
Disadvantages
- Overall success rate of 60% (all courses combined, which may seem relatively low compared to similar platforms)
- Mobile app needs improvement according to some student reviews
- Autonomy in finding internships often criticized in student reviews
Skill and You is one of Europe’s leaders in distance learning, bringing together several specialized schools, including Be Académie and Educatel. All three brands offer the same distance learning BTS in dietetics.
The school highlights its flexibility and modern digital tools: intuitive platform, interactive virtual classes, mobile app, and well-structured digital educational materials.
Cooking videos are also available, along with a 24-hour student space for exchanges.
The school mentions a partnership with Hellowork to facilitate job and internship searches.
Available educational options include a refresher course, life coaching, and TOEIC (paid).
The total cost of the distance BTS Dietetics training is among the lowest in the field, and the payment plan up to 36 months may facilitate access.
E-Diderot: 15/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★★
Support : ★★★☆☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €2,990 – €6,700 – CPF Fundable
E-Diderot justifies its relatively high price with its expertise, the extent of its materials and contents, and its personalized follow-ups. Despite several criticisms from former students and teachers pointing to the sometimes overly commercial approach of the institution, access to campuses is a real “plus” and places it in the top 3.
Advantages
- Many years of experience in teaching this BTS
- Open house days
- “Partners” network thanks to the Diderot Education Group
- Access for distance students to co-working spaces on campuses
- Live cooking classes to prepare for the ATA
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Platform access only for 2 years (+ catch-up period), afterwards payment is required again
- Negative reviews from students and teachers regarding the school’s structural framework
E-Diderot belongs to the Diderot Education group, active in higher education for over twenty years, initially in dietetics and human nutrition.
The school has evolved with new technologies, offering interactive and Qualiopi-certified distance training. Modern digital tools like an app and an intuitive platform are part of their offerings.
Flexible plans from “initial” to “comprehensive” are offered to suit students’ needs and budgets.
However, the most comprehensive plans seem the most educationally interesting and therefore the most expensive. These are the “enhanced” and “comprehensive” plans.
They of course include the e-learning platform, but also individual pedagogical coaching, virtual classes, several mock exams, a dissertation correction, all essential to be ready for the exam.
I really appreciate the active pedagogy highlighted: providing the courses before class time, making them accessible at all times, before and after the exercises.
As well as the possibility of physically accessing the nearest campuses. For students feeling isolated or needing to work outside the home, this is a significant advantage.
E-Diderot also offers numerous very interesting additional options, again paid: such as a training course for nutritional support for athletes.
Etudis (Adonis): 14/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★☆☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €1450 – €6600 – CPF fundable
The Adonis group offers many years of experience in both in-person and distance education. However, their offer doesn’t stand out much from others and remains vague on guidance and the cooking internship.
Advantages
- Many years of experience in teaching this BTS
- Open house days
- Student card
- Personalized feedback
- Possible in-person cooking internship (Easter period)
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Platform accessible for only 2 years, then you have to pay again
- No mobile app
- Uncertainties regarding the in-person internship and the number of mock exams
- Some testimonials report communication problems and insufficient support
Recognized for its expertise in dietetics and paramedical fields, Etudis, part of the ADONIS group specializing in health and nutrition training, has been offering a distance version for about ten years.
The teachers are all professionals in the subjects taught and there is a dedicated space for student-teacher interactions. Phone appointments can be scheduled depending on the chosen package.
Indeed, four different packages offer access to personalized guidance, live courses, and even oral simulations.
Again, the cost is quite steep when certain options essential for the success of this distance course are chosen.
Additionally, an upgrade is said to be mandatory for non-scientific students (extra cost).
The courses are structured with paper and digital supports. Regular assignments are required to assess knowledge and personalized feedback is provided.
Adonis mentions an option for in-person cooking courses in certain cities, provided there are enough registered students (no further details).
An extensive professional network for internships highlights the potential for opportunities. For further studies, two programs following the BTS Dietetics are offered which might interest future graduates.
Academee (Studi): 14/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★★☆
Coûts : ★★★☆☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €3890 – CPF fundable
The school highlights its e-learning expertise and career coaching to support each project. The pedagogical approach is less convincing, with courses accessible only step-by-step, an unclear response on the number of available mock exams, and the possibility of completing the diploma in 1 year.
Advantages
- Career coaching
- Qualification of teachers
- Modern educational tools (app, e-learning partnership)
- Assistance with dissertation writing announced as included
- Promise of interactions with teachers and quick responses to your questions
Disadvantages
- Platform available only for 2 years
- Courses not immediately available but unlocked over the months
- Proposal to complete BTS in 1 year
In 1999, Studi and the M6 group created a 100% online school called Academee. It coincided with the early days of the internet. In 2021, Studi and Academee ventured into training future healthcare professionals.
E-learning and numerous digital partnerships (such as Galileo Global Education) show a true willingness to offer innovative and engaging learning tools.
The platform, available for 2 years, is also accessible via an app: over 4000 live courses delivered by dietitians, doctors, and specialized teachers, replays, downloadable PDF courses…
Academee also provides access to student chats and encourages student-teacher exchanges. Responses to questions are promised within 24 hours maximum.
I found little information regarding help with dissertation writing and its necessity for the exam on the site. But I did get information over the phone: support with a dedicated teacher would be included.
There is a piece of information missing that I think is useful to know: the number of practice exams included in the program, which I find useful to know.
Finally, the school emphasizes career coaching included in the program. It consists of 40 hours of tutorials to help with internship searches, promoting professional integration, and obtaining a “Ready for Work” certificate.
Academee, therefore, presents a certain professional realism, without providing a true professional network. However, I found it unrealistic to repeatedly mention completing this BTS in 1 year, both on the site and over the phone.
IFSNM: 10/20
Pédagogie : ★★★☆☆
Support : ★★☆☆☆
Coûts : ★★★☆☆
Débouchés : ★★☆☆☆
Price: €4850 – CPF fundable
This training institute is specialized exclusively in the field of nutrition. For this first year, there is a certain lack of feedback on the concrete number of practice exams, the real personalized follow-up that a student might benefit from, and the diploma to be completed in 1 year. The fee is quite high.
Advantages
- Willingness for personalized follow-up
- Interactive and engaging pedagogy
- Approach to the profession with a focus on micronutrition, phytotherapy…
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Lack of hindsight (1st year of creation)
- Offering to complete the BTS in 1 year
- Only 1 practice exam
- Lack of precision regarding individualized tutoring sessions
The Advanced Training Institute in Nutrition and Micronutrition (IFSNM) offers the BTS Dietetics remotely for the 1st year. This 100% online program was created by health professionals.
The teaching team also includes scientists: pharmacists and dietitians.
The institute aims to provide extensive educational follow-up. For now, tutoring is estimated at 10 sessions per year on average.
The IFSNM highlights an interactive pedagogy with quizzes, virtual classes, and practical exercises in continuous assessment, while offering long-term access to resources after the training.
However, over the phone, this information is contradicted as they announce access for only 24 months. Only one practice exam is planned at present.
The BTS can also be completed in 1 year, intensively. Over the phone, I mention a potential need for leveling up for non-scientists, the response seems unrealistic to me: “it is not necessary.”
Although the institute values personalized follow-up, support for internship searches and post-graduate professional life does not appear to be among the priorities for now.
I find the approach to the profession interesting, with a focus on nutrition and micronutrition. Graduated dietitians can also choose a specific training course.

My tips for choosing the right distance BTS Dietetics
Choosing the right training is not easy. The stakes are high because preparing for the Higher Technician Certificate in Dietetics at a distance can be more difficult than in person.
A commercial interest certainly motivates these private schools, but this is also the case for on-site programs. The interlocutors may be more or less convincing, without proving the seriousness of the content delivered thereafter.
I advise you to compare the fees and financing options depending on your situation. Also, pay attention to the flexibility and practical tools you need.
Another tip, do not hesitate to contact former students to get their opinions and experiences. For this, just do a keyword search on LinkedIn.
Self-discipline, organizational skills, scientific expertise, and motivation are the key assets that will make the greatest difference.
