The initial symptoms of a cold, such as a runny nose, sneezing, and a burning sensation in the nose, generally appear 1 to 2 days after exposure to the virus. They peak in intensity after 2 to 3 days and usually resolve within 10 days without complications. In some cases, a slight fever, loss of smell and taste, and fatigue may be added.
