The benefits of CBD oil
CBD oil, what is it?
CBD oil is also called ‘cannabidiol oil’. It is extracted from hemp (Cannabis sativa), a plant native to Central Asia, and it is not psychoactive, unlike recreational cannabis.
Different parts are used to obtain this precious plant oil. The seeds, stems, leaves and even the flowers can be harvested and then pressed.
This produces CBD extract which is then diluted in a carrier plant oil. It is most often olive oil or hemp oil.
Cannabidiol oil is characterized by a vegetal, herbaceous aroma. It can be used both in cooking and for skin and hair care. It is also consumed as a dietary supplement, either pure or in capsules.
The benefits of hemp
Hemp is mainly cultivated for its seeds called ‘hempseed’. Very nutritious, they are sources of plant proteins, fiber, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. They also contain essential fatty acids (omega-3-6-9). But the other parts of the plant are also valuable.
Much of the cannabinoids, including cannabidiol, are concentrated in the leaves and stems. As this study shows, these active compounds have anti-stress potential and relieve anxiety.

CBD oil could also help reduce inflammation and prevent certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Studies are underway to confirm these benefits.

How to choose your CBD oil?
CBD oil and hemp oil: what’s the difference?
Hemp oil and CBD oil are often confused. However, it’s important to distinguish them because they do not have the same properties.
Hemp seed oil, or hemp seed vegetable oil, is obtained by pressing the seeds only. It does not contain cannabidiol or other cannabinoids.
CBD oil, on the other hand, is produced from the seeds but also from the leaves, stems and flowers of the plant. It contains various cannabinoid compounds :
- cannabidiol (CBD)
- cannabichromene (CBC)
- cannabigerol (CBG)
- cannabinol (CBN)
- cannabinodiol (CBDL)
Its consumption is not permitted in all countries. In addition, it must contain less than 0.2 % THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Be sure to check the product’s labeling before making your choice.
Quality criteria
We recommend choosing a vegetable oil cold-pressed. This process produces a quality oil, concentrated in active ingredients with its beneficial properties intact. It should also be natural, non-GMO, and free of additives and preservatives.
Organic-certified oils are free from pesticide residues. Also favor those made from hemp grown in France or in Europe.
Ideally, choose a CBD oil diluted in olive oil, hemp or sunflower oil. Avoid palm oil.
Oil labeled “full spectrum” or “full-spectrum” contains all the cannabinoids of hemp. It also contains other natural components of the plant: terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, trace elements…
Finally, take into account the CBD concentration, which can range from 5 to 30%. The more concentrated the oil, the more potent it is.
How to use CBD oil?
In cooking
It has a rather distinctive taste, both earthy and grassy. You can add a few drops to salads, sauces and dressings. It also adds an original touch to smoothies, cakes and cookies. However, it is not suitable for cooking or frying.
Once opened, it is very sensitive to oxidation. Store it at room temperature, in a cool, dark place. You can also place it in the refrigerator. Consume it within 6 months.
As a dietary supplement
It can be taken neat, directly on the tongue or on a sugar cube. In this case, it is important to hold it in the mouth for several seconds. The active ingredients will be absorbed more quickly through the buccal mucosa.
You can also opt for CBD oil capsules to enjoy its benefits without tasting it.
For skin care
Cannabidiol oil is useful for relieving acne because it is anti-inflammatory. It is also antioxidant and fights free radicals.
It slows skin aging and the appearance of signs of aging. Finally, it calms irritations and soothes sensitive skin.
For external use, apply a few drops directly to your skin and massage gently. First perform a patch test in the crook of the elbow. You can also find natural CBD cosmetics and skincare products on the market.

For hair care
Rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, it nourishes, strengthens, and promotes hair growth. It is especially useful for slowing hair loss.
It can also help regulate sebum production and relieve scalp problems (eczema, dandruff, itching…).
Apply CBD oil as an oil treatment, alone or combined with other plant-based oils (castor, jojoba, argan…). It is also suitable for making homemade hair care products.
