About Amoseeds

The brand

Amoseeds is a young French brand based in Franche-Comté, founded in August 2019 by Loïc Dibon and Boris Schottey. It specializes in selling superfoods aimed at anyone wishing to optimize their well-being and health.

The name Amoseeds is a nod to their very first marketed product: the chia seed produced in Mexico. It is a contraction of the word “amo” (“I love” in Spanish) and “seeds” (“seeds” in English).

Mindful of the quality of their products, the founders source directly from producers around the world, which ensures genuine traceability.

All their products are pure, organic, additive-free, preservative-free and grown in their natural environment, in order to offer optimal nutritional value.

Products

The brand offers:

  • Raw foods such as seeds (chia, basil, hemp…)
  • Dried berries (cranberries, goji…)
  • Superfood powders (turmeric, acai, ashwagandha).
  • Teas with traditional benefits (matcha, hojicha…)

Recently, to meet the growing demand of their customers and to make daily intake easier, the brand has expanded its range by offering dietary supplements in the form of vegan capsules of organic superfood extracts

Amoseeds allowed me to discover a multitude of superfoods I didn’t know existed. It made me want to deepen my knowledge of their benefits.

Our test

Products: ★★★

I received the products within 48 hours in a well-sealed box. Everything was well protected by craft paper. A small drawback regarding the presentation: a flyer introducing the brand or a little note would have been welcome.

The brand’s positioning is clear: quality and not superfluous.

The products are packaged in resealable kraft pouches or recyclable bottles for the capsules.

All product information is extremely clear. You will find the product description, its benefits, how and how long to use it, as well as the country of origin. You will also find a photo of a recipe to be found on the brand’s website.

I had the chance to test 3 superfoods: Hojicha tea, rosehip powder, and black maca in capsule form.

Organic Hojicha tea

Organic hojicha tea

A Japanese green tea roasted like coffee, it has relaxing properties thanks to the presence of L-theanine, an amino acid. Unlike other teas, it contains very little theine.

Easy to use — just mix a spoonful into hot water.

But what about the taste?

It was a real discovery for me, I really liked its woody taste and aroma of toasted bread. Additionally, I felt a soothing effect when consuming it.

It is recommended to consume 1 to 2 g per day for optimal effectiveness.

Organic Rosehip

Organic rosehip powder

A berry with anti-inflammatory properties, extremely rich in vitamin C. It contains numerous antioxidant and protective flavonoids and carotenoids. Its taste is slightly tangy and not very sweet

It is recommended to mix the powder with water, fruit juice, or yogurt. I personally chose to consume it with my yogurt at breakfast because I find that the powder does not mix well in water.

The vitamin C dosage is extremely interesting since 1 teaspoon provides 20 mg of vitamin C, which is almost 1/5 of the daily requirements.

Black maca extract capsules

Black maca capsules

Maca is a tuber that grows between 4,000 and 5,000 meters in altitude! It has many recognized benefits, notably on energy, stress, and fertility

Because it has a strong, bitter taste, it is not always easy to consume daily, which is why concentrated capsules are a good alternative. Of normal size, they are dosed at 500 mg of black maca extract and are easy to swallow.

A 500 mg capsule of maca extract represents 5 g of maca powder (10:1 extract).

The 2 capsules per day recommended by Amoseeds therefore represent 10 g of maca.

Because this dosage is very high, I recommend that people suffering from metabolic disorders and/or high blood pressure consult their doctor before taking it at this dose.

Price: ★★★★☆

I chose to compare the price of maca capsules and that of rosehip powder.

It should be noted that, at equal quality, Amoseeds is a bit more expensive than its competitor Sunday Natural, but the capsules have a higher dosage.

However, Amoseeds is considerably cheaper than Natura Force and has a better concentration.

Rosehip

For the rosehip powder, Amoseed is mid-priced compared with its competitors Nu3 and Koro. It is also the only one labeled for vitamin C content, which is a mark of quality and a sign of low-temperature processing.

Amoseeds ships worldwide; shipping costs vary and are free from €35 purchase in mainland France and Belgium for pick-up points and from €50 for home delivery.

Returns and refunds are possible; however, return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.

There are value packs grouping 3 to 4 products with specific themes (weight loss, immunity, sports…). The discount is 10%.

A loyalty program is in place provided you have a customer account. €1 spent earns 1 point. Points can be exchanged for discounts (100 points = €5).

A referral program allows you to get 10% for your referral and a €5 discount voucher per referred person.

The 3 products I tested

Transparency: ★★★★☆

With Amoseeds we know exactly which country the superfood comes from, but we do not always know the region and the supplier. Each batch is third-party tested to ensure the quality and purity of the product.

Unfortunately the analysis certificates are not available on the product pages. In addition, the laboratory and the location of the quality analysis are not mentioned. However, I was able to obtain this information by asking customer service.

The AB certification, more stringent than the European organic certification, is a real plus and a mark of quality.

I had the opportunity to speak with Boris Schottey, one of the brand’s founders. He told me the story of Amoseeds and described their values. They are committed to introducing as many people as possible to high-quality superfoods, and doing so at a fair price.

They also aim to contribute to job creation and to the development of their region (Belfort).

Expertise: ★★★★☆

Each product page clearly details the product’s nutritional composition and which issues it can be used for. It also includes usage instructions and complementary products that can be added to optimize results.

On the website you can take a quiz that helps you find out which superfoods might benefit you based on your concerns (stress, sleep, digestion…)

On retrouve aussi des recettes gourmandes qui facilitent l’utilisation des superaliments au quotidien.

Popularity: ★★★★☆

On social media, the brand has more than 19,000 followers on Facebook and 14,000 followers on Instagram (December 2021), which is low compared to other brands offering similar products.

On Trustpilot there are nearly 2,135 reviews. The average rating is 4.5/5. The comments are mostly positive and highlight the speed of shipping, the quality of the products, as well as the friendliness of customer service.

Amoseeds has a strong presence on Amazon. All products have ratings between 4 and 5 stars. Most reviews mention the quality of the products.

Trust: ★★★★

Amoseeds has customer service available by phone or email.

I sent my questions on a Saturday and received a response less than 48 hours later.

My questions were about the location and name of the superfoods testing laboratory, as well as the difference between maca powder and maca in capsule form.

I found the answers to be clear and precise.

The products are packaged in France in Franche-Comté, they are all organic and have the European double AB and organic certification validated by Bureau Veritas (a company specialized in inspection and certification).
