Nutri&Co: the best marine collagen? A dietitian’s opinion (2025).

Diététicien nutritionniste

Marine collagen is generating growing interest for its potential effects on the skin and joints. We asked Maxime Mességué, dietitian-nutritionist, to test the main supplements on the market. Today he talks to us about Nutri&Co collagen.

Dietitian-nutritionist since 2009, passionate about health, prevention and overall balance, I have been exploring for many years the link between diet, well-being and vitality.

Among the many marine collagens on the market, Nutri&Co’s is particularly visible on social networks. So I wanted to find out more and carried out a rigorous and comprehensive analysis of their supplement.

What is collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant structural protein in the human body. Present in the skin, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bones, it ensures the strength, cohesion, and elasticity of tissues.

More than 28 types of collagen have been identified, but three predominate:

  • Type I present in the skin, tendons, and bones
  • Type II present in cartilage
  • Type III present in the skin and connective tissues

From the age of 25, natural collagen production decreases by 1 to 1.5% per year [1]. This decline results in a loss of skin elasticity, slower muscle recovery, and increased joint fragility.

Several factors worsen this decline:

  • A modern diet depleted in collagen-rich parts (skins, tendons, bone broths).
  • Oxidative stress (smoking, pollution, lack of sleep), which degrades the fibers.
  • Deficiencies in co-factors (vitamin C, zinc, copper, glycine, proline, lysine) essential for collagen synthesis.
  • Excessive sun exposure, which activates metalloproteinases, enzymes responsible for its breakdown.

Why supplement with collagen?

Several rigorous clinical studies confirm the benefits of a daily intake of 2.5 to 10 g of hydrolyzed collagen peptides:

  • Skin: improved elasticity and hydration after 6 to 8 weeks  [2]
  • Joints: reduced pain and stiffness  [3]
  • Hair and nails: better resistance [4]

Since native collagen is too large to be absorbed, it must be hydrolyzed, meaning broken down into low-molecular-weight peptides (< 6,000 Da) to allow:

  • Rapid absorption through the intestinal wall;
  • Effective distribution to connective tissues [5];
  • A stimulating “signal” effect on fibroblasts, boosting the natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

In other words, these peptides do more than simply provide amino acids: they reactivate the internal regeneration mechanisms of skin and joint tissues.

Test methodology

To evaluate Nutri&co peach-flavored collagen, I based my review on 5 criteria:

  1. Nutritional composition and collagen quality;
  2. Safety and traceability;
  3. Taste and solubility;
  4. Brand reputation and transparency;
  5. Packaging and convenience.

The effectiveness could not be measured directly, as it requires continuous use for 6 to 8 weeks. The given ratings therefore reflect an objective analysis of the formulation and the user experience.

Nutri&Co marine collagen

Nutri&Co is a French company founded in 2017, specialized in “clean label” dietary supplements. The brand is committed to offering transparent formulas, scientifically supported and without controversial additives.

Nutri&Co Marine Collagen is made from wild fish from the Breton coasts and the cold waters of Alaska, sourced from sustainable fisheries certified Friend of the Sea. Extraction and processing are carried out in France, at two sites located in Brittany and in the Southwest, ensuring full traceability.

The supplement is composed of hydrolyzed collagen peptides, with an average molecular weight of 2,000 daltons, promoting rapid absorption. The formula combines these peptides with vitamin C, essential for natural collagen synthesis.

No controversial additives are used: acacia gum, chosen as a bulking agent, is a natural fiber that is well tolerated.

The collagen comes exclusively from the skins of wild fish (mainly pollock and ray) and contains mostly type I and III collagen, with a small proportion of type II (around 5 mg per serving).

The product is manufactured in France, packaged in a resealable 180 g pouch, i.e. 30 servings of 6 g each. The format is practical, airtight, and easy to use on a daily basis.

Its price is 30.90 euros per pouch.

1. Composition: ★★★★

Each 6 g dose provides 5.5 g of hydrolyzed marine collagen peptides with a molecular weight less than or equal to 2000 daltons. The presence of type I, II and III collagen allows for a complete action on the skin, joints and supporting tissues.

I also appreciate the presence of vitamin C, which is essential for collagen synthesis. It covers about 30% of daily needs, which strengthens the consistency of the formula.

A small personal drawback: the vitamin C used is synthetic. Nothing problematic in itself, since its effectiveness is equivalent to that of natural origin, but I always prefer natural sources when possible.

2. Safety: ★★★★

On this point, there is nothing to complain about. The collagen comes from wild fish sustainably caught off the French and Alaskan coasts, then processed in France in two Friend of the Sea-certified plants.

Traceability is exemplary, and the formulation is ultra-simple: no questionable additives, only a bit of acacia gum, a natural fiber that is very well tolerated. This is exactly the kind of product you can recommend without concern.

3. Pleasure: ★★★★

The peach flavor is subtle, pleasant, and without any marine note, which is already a real strong point. Personally, I would have liked a slightly more pronounced peach aroma to enhance the taste experience, especially in plain water.

Solubility in cold water could still be improved: lukewarm water or a smoothie offers a much better experience. In daily life, the product fits easily into a routine and is simple to use in the morning or as a snack.

4. Brand: ★★★★

Nutri&Co is one of the French brands I appreciate for their reliability. Since it was created in 2017, it has established itself as a benchmark for “clean label”, with solid, well‑sourced and transparent formulations.

Their communication is clear, their approach is scientific, and their average rating of 4.4/5 on Trustpilot clearly reflects user satisfaction.

5. Packaging: ★★★★

The resealable pouch is practical, sturdy, and more eco‑friendly than a plastic jar.
The only small area for improvement: the information on the back could be a bit easier to read (font size and contrast).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long before I see results?

The effects of collagen are not felt overnight. In general, it takes 6 to 8 weeks of daily intake before you start noticing changes: skin that’s a bit more supple, a brighter complexion, sometimes better recovery or improved joint comfort.

But it’s often after 2 to 3 months that the results become truly visible. The key is consistency: collagen works in depth, and its benefits build up over time, a bit like when you adopt a good dietary or workout routine.

Marine or bovine collagen: which one should you choose?

Marine collagen is obtained from the skin or cartilage of fish, while bovine collagen comes from beef connective tissues (skin and bones).

Strictly speaking, there is no major difference in effectiveness between the two: they provide the same amino acids involved in collagen synthesis. Marine collagen is nonetheless appreciated for its more sustainable origin and ethical profile, whereas bovine collagen remains more neutral in taste and is often more economical.

In the end, it mainly depends on the quality of the product you choose: purity, traceability, absence of additives, and consistent dosing make all the difference.

Why choose Nutri&Co Marine Collagen?

One of Nutri&Co’s biggest strengths is its transparency. You know exactly where the raw materials come from and who manufactures them.

The product combines three types of collagen (I, II and III), which allows for a more complete action on the skin, joints and connective tissues.

Finally, the brand has opted for a short and clear formulation, without controversial additives.

In short: exemplary traceability, a simple and coherent composition, and a genuine desire to offer a safe, well-formulated product.
