Today, we’re going to talk about a topic that concerns half of humanity and that the other half often pretends not to understand: the menstrual cycle. We’re going to talk about a topic that is still far too little explored: the link between diet, overall health (mental and physical), and the menstrual cycle. Understanding your body, its changes, and its specific needs also means taking back some control over your health on a daily basis.
The guest: Aude Gamberini
Aude has been a friend of mine for more than ten years, and thanks to her, I have understood my inner cycles and mood swings like never before. She gave me practical tools in moments that were sometimes very critical. She created WonderCycles, workshops designed to help girls and women better understand how their menstrual cycle affects their physical and mental health. It was when she felt helpless at several stages of her life that she decided, at 45, to begin studying naturopathy and micronutrition, with the goal of helping women better care for their menstrual health. The workshop format makes it possible to provide key information on anatomy and physiology, and also to open up discussion among women about topics that are still taboo.
My questions
- Can you tell us about the moment when you realized that you did not really understand your own cycle?
- What led you, at 45, to retrain in naturopathy and micronutrition?
- Can you summarize a cycle and its hormonal changes for us?
- Can we really adapt our diet to the different phases of the cycle? If so, how do we start simply?
- How can these different phases be addressed beyond diet? (exercise, sleep, etc.)
- What do you recommend for taking care of the thyroid?
- A few words about menopause?
- What does a typical naturopathy session look like?
- Every case is different, but are there any essential supplements?
- Are there any very common mistakes or misconceptions about these topics that you’d like to challenge?
- Your WonderCycles workshops also address the issue of taboo—what do you observe in women when the conversation opens up?
- Looking back, what do you wish you had known earlier about your own body?
- For someone listening to us who feels a bit lost with all this, where would you recommend starting tomorrow?
- Your favorite recipe?
