In the fall, you may notice more hair on your brush or at the bottom of the shower. This seasonal shedding is usually temporary. To support your hair, you can act on two fronts: care applied to the scalp, and supplementation, with targeted nutrient intake.

Aroma-Zone has developed three supplements specifically for hair, and Darwin Nutrition has broken them down to help you know which one to choose based on your needs.

If you are experiencing sudden, heavy hair loss or shedding that lasts for several months, consult a doctor or dermatologist first, as it may have a medical cause that a supplement will not treat.

1. The Hair Complex for a plant-based formula

aromazone hair complex

The Aroma-Zone Hair Complex combines the active ingredient Beaulixir®, based on oil extracts of saw palmetto, borage, flax, wheat, and rye, with pine bark phytosterols. This is a synergy of active ingredients developed by Aroma-Zone.

The formula also provides zinc and biotin (vitamin B8) of natural origin, derived from sunflower and coriander extracts. Zinc and biotin help maintain normal hair.

Take 2 capsules per day, which provides 600 mg of Beaulixir®. The 60-capsule jar lasts one month and costs €17.95.

The capsules are plant-based, the product is made in France, and it contains no additives. The brand cites the results of a self-assessment conducted with 33 volunteers after 12 weeks of treatment, who reported -45% less hair loss when brushing and +49% volume.

Who is it for? For those looking for a plant-based formula that combines several plants and the two benchmark nutrients to help care for their hair.

2. Keratin to focus on a unique, patented active ingredient

The dietary supplement Kératine Aroma-Zone relies on a single active ingredient: 500 mg per day of Cynatine® HNS, a hydrolyzed, patented keratin whose amino acid profile is very close to that of hair keratin. Hydrolysis breaks the protein down into small peptides, an essential step since native keratin is not assimilable.

The ingredient list is short, which is something we tend to value at Darwin Nutrition: Cynatine®, the plant-based capsule shell, and a little coconut MCT oil.

Take 2 capsules per day. The jar of 60 capsules lasts one month, for €19.95, and the brand recommends a 3-month course. The active ingredient Cynatine HNS® was evaluated in a study randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, in 100 women and men, at 500 mg per day for 90 days, which is exactly the dose in the supplement.

Who is it for? For those who prefer a single active ingredient and whose hair lacks hold or breaks easily. Since keratin is animal-derived, this supplement is not suitable for vegans.

3. Fortified brewer’s yeast for a supply of B vitamins

brewer's yeast aromazone

The Aroma-Zone enriched brewer’s yeast combines three yeasts: an inactive organic brewer’s yeast, a yeast enriched with B vitamins, and a selenium-enriched yeast. Each capsule contains 423 mg of organic brewer’s yeast, 113 mg of yeast enriched with B vitamins, and 13 mg of selenium-enriched yeast.

Two capsules provide 100% of the reference nutrient intake of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9 and B12, as well as selenium.

Biotin and selenium contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, and selenium also contributes to the maintenance of normal nails. Take 2 capsules per day: the 120-capsule jar covers two months for €14.95, making it the most economical option of the three. Vegan, made in France.

Who is it for? For those who want a full intake of B vitamins, including B12, which is valuable when following a vegetarian or vegan diet. Good to know: biotin can skew certain biological test results, so let the lab know you are taking it before a blood test.

Note: Before starting a course, read the usage precautions for each product carefully and talk to your doctor or pharmacist, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are currently undergoing treatment
