# Most popular online BTS in dietetics 🥇

skill and you

Skill and You: 16/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★

Job prospects: ★★★★

Institutions reviewed: Studi (Academee brand), Skill and You (Be Academie, Educatel brands), L’atelier des Chefs, Etudis (Adonis), E-Diderot, and IFSNM.

Like many higher education degrees, the BTS in Dietetics is demanding and rigorous. It is essential for anyone wishing to work as a dietitian-nutritionist as a self-employed professional or as an employee.

Whether in person or 100% online, the program lasts two years and is structured around a scientific curriculum ranging from culinary techniques to pathophysiology, including biochemistry.

Distance learning can indeed be appealing. In my view, it offers two main advantages: flexibility in the learning journey and lower cost.

However, it seems crucial to me, to ensure your success as a student, to have a serious, motivating, and realistic framework in the face of the difficulties of this field. It must provide you with all the tools needed for the exam.

To help you choose your distance-learning BTS in Dietetics (or by correspondence), I compared the 6 private programs currently available according to 4 major criteria. And I evaluated and rated each one.

Methodology

The data were collected in January 2025 from the institutions’ websites. Prices and features may change.

To compare the institutions offering this distance-learning BTS, I identified four main criteria to assess and differentiate them.

Each criterion is assigned a score out of 5, based on the information gathered and on my exchanges with each school. The average of the four determines the final selection.

1. Teaching and academic quality

The first criterion first makes it possible to check the school’s quality labels and the recognition of the diploma obtained, as well as the teachers’ qualifications.

Most schools also estimate an average number of teaching hours for the two years of the BTS Dietetics program, even though the student manages their work time on their own.

Different teaching materials are also made available and compared according to their relevance and the length of access to the various resources.

Unfortunately, I was not able to assess the pass rate which nevertheless seems to me to be an important argument. The majority of schools do not specify it, or else it remains a declaration with no means of verification.

Indeed, the education authority does not distinguish between students: students from public schools, private schools, distance learning, in-person classes, or independent candidates. The national pass rate for the BTS Dietetics program is on average below 50%.

2. Accessibility and student support

The second criterion compares the presence of tutoring and personalized support for the student. Between internships, a paper to write, and written exams, support is important.

The possibility of communicating with the teachers, the other students, and how often, proves to be a positive point for the schools concerned.

Finally, I attach importance to administrative support, such as exam registration and internship agreements.

3. Cost and additional services

The prices of distance learning and financing options vary from one school to another. This is obviously part of the selection criteria.

Several educational options are available, included or for a fee: coaching, specific subjects, and more. Their relevance contributes to the scoring of this criterion.

I also found it interesting to compare the length of access to the resources and the possibility of in-person classes for certain schools.

4. Career prospects and recognition

The dietetics BTS includes mandatory internships: 20 weeks in total. In collective catering or in the hospital sector, some schools can help you find them more easily.

I took into account the job placement support. Some schools pay attention to this, and I find this point essential. Although none can provide figures on employment rates that would make it possible to assess this reality of the profession.

Finally, reading reviews on student forums as well as online ratings completes my analysis of the six distance learning providers selected.

# Best value for money 🥇

skill and you

Skill and You: 16/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★★
Costs: ★★★★
Job prospects: ★★★★

Price: €3,470 – CPF eligible

In short, the Skill and You platform offers quality training. The option to keep exam grades above average for 5 years is explained and reflects honesty regarding the difficulty level of this BTS. Its competitive price, payable in 36 monthly installments, makes it accessible to more people.

Advantages

  • Competitive cost
  • Digital tools
  • Access to the platform for 48 months
  • Teachers selected for their qualifications and professional background
  • Willingness to provide personalized support: corrections, coaching…

Disadvantages

  • Overall success rate of 60% (all programs combined, which may seem relatively low compared with other similar platforms)
  • Mobile app to improve according to some student reviews
  • Autonomy in finding internships often criticized in student reviews

Skill and You is one of the European leaders in distance learning, bringing together several specialized schools, including Be Académie and Educatel. The 3 brands offer the same remote BTS in dietetics.

The school highlights its flexibility and modern digital tools: intuitive platform, interactive virtual classes, mobile app, and well-structured digital learning materials.

Cooking videos are also available, as well as a 24/7 student area to allow exchanges.

The school mentions a partnership with Hellowork to make access to job and internship searches easier.

Educational options such as a refresher course, life coaching, and the TOEIC are available (for a fee).

The total cost of the remote BTS in Dietetics program is, according to our analysis, among the lowest in the field, and the payment schedule of up to 36 months may make it easier to access.

# Best remote BTS in dietetics

bts chefs workshop

L’atelier des Chefs : 19/20

Pedagogy : ★★★★
Support : ★★★★
Costs : ★★★★
Job prospects : ★★★★

Price: €3,790 – CPF eligible

The professional reality of L’atelier des Chefs is an asset for learning the dietitian profession. Pedagogy, content, and practice are at the heart of the program. The human connection and the close relationship with the instructors put it at the top of the ranking.

Advantages

  • Professional network
  • Student and alumni network
  • Instructor qualifications
  • Opportunity for an in-person internship for the ATA exam
  • Overall success rate across all programs included: 97%

Disadvantages

  • Paid thesis coaching
  • Lack of perspective due to the program’s recent creation

Initially known for its cooking classes, L’atelier des Chefs stands out for the richness of its content and its professional approach.

Qualiopi-certified and endorsed by experts, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, it has recently diversified by offering online degree programs.

A refresher course is included for students who need it. The modules follow the national curriculum, ensuring good exam preparation.

The online support offers content available for up to 3 years:

  • written courses
  • live courses or available on replay
  • videos and podcasts freely accessible.

A two-day in-person internship in the Paris region to prepare for the ATA exam, Technological Food Activities, is possible.

The academic advisor mentions high-quality instructors, dietitians and chefs, names them, and cites their profiles on social media. A human approach seems to be at the heart of the process by explaining interactions between students and teachers, feedback, and the possibility of Q&A sessions.

There is personalized support with a subject-matter expert for technical questions, and a coach for motivation and other questions.

One downside, in my opinion: the memory coaching is paid, as is the case for many schools. However, the price of the all-inclusive program remains in line with the average and is not the highest on the market.

With a strong professional network, L’atelier des Chefs offers good prospects both for internships and for post-graduation employment.

A “recruitment forum” is also available to students. Business creation coaching is also offered, at an additional cost, and may suit your project.

e-diderot

E-Diderot : 15/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★
Costs: ★★★★
Career prospects: ★★★

Price: €1,495 – €3,350 – CPF eligible

E-Diderot justifies its fairly high price with its expertise, the breadth of its support and content, and its personalized follow-up. Despite several criticisms from former students and former teachers pointing to the school’s sometimes overly commercial approach, access to the campuses is a real “plus” and earns it a spot in the top 3.

Advantages

  • Many years of experience teaching this BTS program
  • Open days
  • “Partner” network thanks to the Diderot Education Group
  • Remote students have access to co-working spaces on campus
  • Live cooking classes to prepare for the ATA

Disadvantages

  • Platform accessible for only 2 years (+ make-up period), then you have to pay again
  • Negative reviews from students and teachers regarding the school’s structural framework

E-Diderot belongs to the Diderot Education group, active in higher education for over twenty years and, from the very beginning, in dietetics and human nutrition.

The school has adapted to new technologies, offering interactive distance learning programs certified by Qualiopi. Modern digital tools such as an app and an intuitive platform are part of their selling points.

Flexible packages from “basic” to “all-inclusive” are presented to suit students’ needs and budgets.

The program takes 1,640 hours, with supervision included even in the basic package. Video materials are available, and an in-person internship is possible for the ATA exam + mock BTS exam. The pass rate for this dietetics BTS is 70%.

However, the most comprehensive options seem the most interesting from a pedagogical point of view and therefore the most expensive. These are the “enhanced” and “full” options.

They naturally include the e-learning platform, but also individual educational coaching, virtual classes, several mock exams, proofreading of the dissertation, everything essential to be ready to take the exam.

I really like the active teaching approach highlighted here: providing the lessons before class time, therefore accessible at any time, before and after the exercises.

As well as the possibility of physically accessing the nearest campuses. For students who feel alone or need to work outside the home, this is a significant advantage.

E-Diderot also offers many very interesting additional options, once again for an extra fee: such as the fully funded training of an athlete for nutritional support.

etudis

Etudis (Adonis): 14/20

Pedagogy : ★★★★
Support : ★★★
Costs : ★★★★
Opportunities : ★★★

Price: €1,450 – €6,600 – CPF eligible

The Adonis group has many years of experience in education, both in-person and remote. But in the end, their offer stands out little from the others and remains vague regarding the support and the cooking internship.

Advantages

  • Many years of experience teaching this BTS program
  • Open days
  • Student ID card
  • Personalized corrections
  • Possible cooking internship in person (Easter period)

Disadvantages

  • High cost
  • Platform accessible for only 2 years, then you have to pay again
  • No mobile app
  • Unclear details about the in-person internship and the number of practice exams
  • Some testimonials indicate communication issues and insufficient support

Recognized for its expertise in dietetics and paramedical training, Etudis, from the ADONIS group specialized in health- and nutrition-related training, has offered a remote version for about ten years.

The instructors are all professionals in the subjects taught, and a space is dedicated to exchanges between students and teachers. Phone appointments are possible depending on the chosen package.

Indeed, four different packages provide access to personalized support, live classes, or even oral mock exams.

Here too, the cost is quite high when certain options essential for successfully completing this distance-learning program are chosen.

Another point: a refresher course is said to be mandatory for non-science students (additional cost).

The courses are structured using paper and digital materials. Regular assignments are required to assess knowledge, and personalized corrections are provided.

Adonis mentions a cooking class option in person in certain cities, provided there are enough enrolled students (no further details provided).

An expanded professional network for internships highlights the possibility of opportunities. Going forward, two programs after the BTS in Dietetics are offered there that may interest future graduates.

academee

Academee (Studi): 14/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★★
Costs: ★★★
Career opportunities: ★★★

Price: €3890 – CPF eligible

The school highlights its e-learning expertise and career coaching to support each project. The teaching approach is less convincing, with courses accessible only step by step, a lack of response about the number of mock exams available, and the possibility of earning the diploma in 1 year.

Advantages

  • Career coaching
  • Teacher qualifications
  • Modern teaching tools (app, e-learning partnership)
  • Help with writing the thesis announced as included
  • Promise of exchanges with teachers and quick answers to your questions

Disadvantages

  • Platform available for only 2 years
  • Courses not immediately available but unlocked over the months
  • Proposal to take the BTS in 1 year

In 1999, Studi and the M6 group created a 100% online school called Academee. This reflects the beginnings of the internet. In 2021, Studi and Academee launched training for future healthcare professionals.

E-learning and the many digital partnerships (such as Galileo Global Education) show a real desire to offer innovative and engaging tools for learning.

The platform, available for 2 years, is also accessible via an app: more than 4,000 live courses delivered by dietitians, doctors, and specialized teachers, replays, courses downloadable as PDFs…

Academee also provides access to student chats and encourages student-teacher exchanges. Responses to questions are promised within 24 hours at the latest.

I found little information on the website about help with writing the thesis and its necessity for the exam. But I got information by phone: support with a dedicated teacher would be included.

One piece of information that would be useful to know, in my opinion, is: the number of mock exams included in the program, which I think is useful to know.

Finally, the school emphasizes the career coaching included in the program. It consists of 40 hours of tutoring to help with finding internships, support employability, and obtain a “Ready for work” certificate.

Academee therefore offers a certain level of professional realism, without really providing a true professional network either. On the other hand, I found the repeated mention of completing this BTS in 1 year unrealistic, both on the website and by phone.

IFSNM

IFSNM : 10/20

Pedagogy : ★★★
Support : ★★
Costs : ★★★

Opportunities : ★★

Price: €4,850 – CPF eligible

This training institute is specialized in the field of nutrition only. For this first year, there is still some lack of perspective on the actual number of mock exams, the real personalized support the student could receive, and the diploma to be completed in 1 year. The cost is quite high.

Advantages

  • Desire for personalized support
  • Interactive and fun teaching methods
  • Approach to the profession with a focus on micronutrition, phytotherapy…

Disadvantages

  • High cost
  • Little perspective (1st year since creation)
  • Proposal to complete the BTS in 1 year
  • Only 1 mock exam
  • Lack of clarity regarding individual tutoring sessions

The Higher Institute of Training in Nutrition and Micronutrition (IFSNM) offers the BTS Dietetics remotely for the 1st year. This 100% online program was created by health professionals

The teaching team also includes scientists: pharmacists and dietitians.

The institute aims to provide in-depth educational support. At the moment, tutoring is estimated at 10 sessions per year on average.

IFSNM highlights an interactive teaching approach with quizzes, virtual classes, and practical exercises in continuous assessment, while also offering long-term access to resources after the program.

However, by phone, this information is contradicted, as I was told there would be access for only 24 months. Only one mock exam is planned for now.

The BTS is also possible in 1 year, in an intensive format. By phone, I mention a possible need for preparatory catch-up for non-science students, and the response seems quite unrealistic to me: “it is not necessary.”

Although the institute values personalized support, assistance with internship search and post-graduation professional life does not appear among the priorities for now.

I find the approach to the profession interesting, with a nutrition and micronutrition focus. Graduated dietitians can also choose a specific training program.

My advice for choosing your remote BTS in dietetics well

It is not easy to choose the right training program. The stakes are high because preparing for the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur in Dietetics remotely can be more difficult than in person.

A commercial stake is clearly driving these private schools, but that is also the case for in-person programs. The people you speak with may seem more or less convincing, without proving the seriousness of the content delivered afterward.

I therefore advise you to compare pricing as well as financing options based on your situation. Also pay attention to the flexibility and the practical tools you need.

Another tip: feel free to contact former students to learn about their opinions and experiences. To do this, simply search by keyword on LinkedIn.

Self-discipline, organizational skills, your scientific knowledge, and your motivation are the key strengths that will make the biggest difference.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How much does a distance-learning dietetics BTS cost?

The cost of a distance-learning dietetics BTS ranges from €2,100 to €7,000 per year, depending on the institution and the educational options selected. Many schools offer payment facilities, with the option to pay in installments at no extra cost, spread over monthly payments. In addition, it is possible to benefit from funding assistance, notably through the CPF (Personal Training Account), France Travail, or regional aid, to reduce the cost or cover the full training expenses.

Can you complete a distance-learning dietetics BTS in 1 year?

Some schools do in fact offer the distance-learning BTS in dietetics in 1 year. This format requires completing the entire 2-year curriculum, writing the thesis, and the mandatory 20 weeks of internship in a single year. The success rate for this 1-year BTS remains unknown and suggests a very intensive pace that may not be suitable for everyone.

Are there internships during an online dietetics BTS program?

The BTS in Dietetics includes a total of 20 weeks of internship,  over the two years of study. These internships are mandatory, whether the program is completed in person or online.

Does CNED offer a distance-learning dietetics BTS?

Among distance learning providers, CNED is a longstanding national public institution. It offers the BTS in Dietetics as well as a BTS Dietetics foundation course for people without a scientific background. The standard price (without options) is €2,190 for an estimated 1,500 hours of study.

What is the success rate of distance-learning dietetics BTS programs?

Schools offering the BTS in Dietetics by distance learning generally do not publish a specific pass rate, instead referring more often to the national pass rate reported by the education authorities. On average, the pass rate for the BTS in Dietetics is 40% to 50%. This figure includes all candidates, whether they completed their training in person or at a distance.
