Fatigue and nutrition
To stay fit and function normally, the human body needs certain nutrients that are found only in our diet. If one or more of these nutrients are missing, the body does not function optimally and we feel tired!
Superfoods, very rich in nutrients, are therefore particularly recommended for severe fatigue. Some are especially effective against fatigue because of their vitamin C, magnesium, or other components such as caffeine.
5 anti-fatigue superfoods
1. Maca

This Peruvian tuber was used by Inca warriors before and after battles to boost their energy levels. Maca is particularly rich in nutrients and contains, in particular, 20 amino acids, vitamins B and C, calcium, magnesium and copper.
Several studies have shown its measurable effects on athletic performance and endurance.
Generally sold in powder form, preferably organic, maca is consumed as smoothies, cakes, juices, and yogurts.
2. Spirulina

This “blue algae” 3 billion years old originates from the Americas and Africa, although today spirulina is cultivated all over the world, and notably in France.
It is above all known for its exceptional protein content: up to 70%, i.e. three times more than beef… But spirulina is also very rich in minerals (magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, selenium and sodium), vitamins (A, B, D, E, K), beta-carotenes and omega-6.
It is consumed in powder form to enhance savory dishes or vinaigrette sauces. But some also take it in tablet form to swallow directly, given its pronounced “marine” flavor!
3. Raw cacao

Raw cacao is unroasted cacao. Not roasting helps preserve the maximum of the many nutrients contained in cacao. Its positive effect on our energy comes mainly from its high magnesium content, which is particularly bioavailable to our bodies.
Raw cacao is also rich in vitamin C and amino acids.
Raw cacao is consumed as nibs to snack on, or as a powder to add to desserts.
4. Guarana

Originally from the Brazilian Amazon, the guarana seed is extremely concentrated in caffeine (5 times more than coffee) and therefore particularly stimulating.
Guarana contributes to better physical and mental energy, and has a positive effect on memory and concentration.
Guarana is typically consumed as beverages, but also as powder, herbal teas and tablets. However, it should be limited to 2 to 3 servings per week.
G. Ginseng

The ginseng root is a traditional tonic for the body and mind in Chinese medicine.
Ginseng is rich in vitamins C and B, and in specific anti-fatigue components such as polysaccharides, oligopeptides and ginsenosides.
Ginseng is available in powder and capsules, but its natural form (raw, as a tisane for example) is the most recommended.
