Itching: the most effective dietary supplements

Mis à jour le

Itching, or pruritus, is an unpleasant sensation that causes the urge to scratch. These skin disorders can be caused by various conditions, including allergies, irritations, infections, or internal imbalances such as stress or nutritional deficiencies. They often reflect a complex interaction between the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems of the skin. Itching can result from dermatological diseases such as eczema or psoriasis, or from allergic reactions to external substances, for example mosquito bites. Sometimes it reflects an internal imbalance, for example an overload of the body's elimination organs such as the liver or kidneys. Stress, a common underlying factor, exacerbates itching by releasing cortisol, which weakens the skin barrier.

Relieving Itching

Soothing plants: Aloe vera, applied as a gel, hydrates and soothes the skin. Infusions or topical applications of chamomile or calendula reduce inflammation. • Essential oils: Essential oils of lavender aspic or tea tree have antiseptic and soothing properties. Dilute them in a carrier oil before applying. Maintaining optimal hydration and protecting the skin against external aggressors (pollution, chemicals) are essential. If itching persists or severe skin lesions occur, a medical consultation is recommended.
