Institutions analyzed: Studi (brand Academee), Skill and You (brands Be Academie, Educatel), L’atelier des Chefs, Etudis (Adonis), E-Diderot and IFSNM.

Like many higher education diplomas, the BTS Dietetics is comprehensive and demanding. It is essential for anyone wishing to practice as a dietitian-nutritionist in private practice or as an employee.

Whether in-person or 100% online, the training lasts two years, structured around a scientific curriculum ranging from culinary techniques to pathophysiology, including biochemistry.

Distance learning can indeed be appealing. In my opinion it offers two main advantages: flexibility in the learning pathway and lower cost.

However, I believe it is crucial for ensuring your success as a student to have a serious, motivating, and realistic framework when facing the challenges of this field. It must provide you with all the tools necessary for the exam.

To help you choose your BTS Dietetics distance program (or by correspondence), I compared the 6 private programs currently available according to 4 main criteria. And I evaluated and rated each of them.

We evaluate all training programs independently. If you request information, we forward your contact details to the relevant institutions on your behalf.

Methodology

To compare the institutions offering this BTS via distance learning, I determined four main criteria to evaluate and differentiate them.

Each criterion is assigned a score out of 5, based on the information collected and on my discussions with each of the schools. The average of the four determines the final selection.

1. Pedagogical and academic quality

The first criterion primarily checks the school’s quality labels and the recognition of the diploma obtained, as well as the teachers’ qualifications.

Most schools also estimate an average number of teaching hours for the two years of the BTS in Dietetics, although the student manages their own study time.

Various teaching materials are also made available and assessed according to their relevance and the duration of access to the various resources.

Unfortunately, I was not able to assess the success rate, which nevertheless seems to me an important factor. The majority of schools do not specify it or it remains self-reported without any means of verification.

Indeed, the rectorate does not distinguish between students: those from public, private, distance-learning, in-person schools or independent candidates. The national success rate for the BTS in Dietetics is on average below 50%.

2. Accessibility and student support

The second criterion compares the availability of tutoring and personalized support for the student. Between internships, a paper to write and the written exams, support is important.

The opportunity to interact with teachers, with other students, and the frequency of such interactions, is a positive point for the schools concerned.

Finally, I attach importance to administrative support, such as registration for the exam and internship agreements.

3. Cost and additional services

The costs of distance learning and financing options vary from one school to another. This is, of course, part of the selection criteria.

Several educational options are available, included or paid: coaching, specific subjects and others. Their relevance contributes to the scoring of this criterion.

I also found it interesting to compare the duration of access to resources and the possibility of in-person attendance for certain schools.

4. Career prospects and recognition

The BTS in dietetics includes mandatory internships: 20 weeks in total. In collective catering or in the hospital sector, some schools can help you find them more easily.

I took into account the employment support. Some schools care about it, and I find this point essential. Although none can provide figures on employment outcomes that would allow assessing this reality of the profession.

Finally, reading reviews on student forums as well as online ratings complements my analysis of the six selected distance learning providers.

skill and you

Skill and You : 16/20

Teaching: ★★★★
Support: ★★★★
Costs: ★★★★
Career prospects: ★★★★

Price: €3,470 – Eligible for CPF financing

In summary, the Skill and You platform offers quality training. The possibility of keeping exam scores above average for 5 years is explained and reflects honesty about the difficulty level of this BTS. Its competitive fee, payable in 36 monthly installments, makes it accessible to a larger number of people.

Advantages

  • Competitive pricing
  • Digital tools
  • Access to the platform for 48 months
  • Teachers selected for their qualifications and professional backgrounds
  • Willingness to provide personalized support: corrections, coaching…

Disadvantages

  • Overall success rate of 60% (all programs combined, which may seem relatively low compared to other similar platforms)
  • Mobile app needs improvement according to some student reviews
  • The level of autonomy required to find internships is often criticized in student reviews

Skill and You is one of the European leaders in distance learning, bringing together several specialized schools, including Be Académie and Educatel. The three brands offer the same distance-learning BTS in Dietetics.

The school emphasizes its flexibility and modern digital tools: intuitive platform, interactive virtual classrooms, mobile app and well-structured digital learning resources.

Cooking videos are also available, as well as a student area open 24/7 to facilitate interactions.

The school mentions a partnership with Hellowork to facilitate access to job and internship searches.

Educational options such as a refresher course, life coaching, and the TOEIC are available (paid).

The total cost of the distance-learning BTS in Dietetics is among the lowest in the field, and the payment schedule of up to 36 months can facilitate access.

# Best remote BTS in Dietetics

bts atelier des chefs

The Chefs’ Workshop : 19/20

Pedagogy : ★★★★
Support : ★★★★
Costs : ★★★★
Career prospects : ★★★★

Price: €3,790 – Eligible for CPF funding

The professional reality of L’atelier des Chefs is an asset for learning to become a dietitian. Pedagogy, content and practice are at the heart of the training. The human contact and the closeness of the instructors put it first in the ranking.

Advantages

  • Professional network
  • Network of students and alumni
  • Teacher qualifications
  • Possibility of an in-person internship for the ATA exam
  • Overall success rate across all programs of 97%

Disadvantages

  • Paid thesis coaching
  • Limited track record due to the program’s recent creation

Initially recognized for its cooking classes, L’atelier des Chefs stands out for the richness of its content and its professional approach.

Certified Qualiopi and validated by experts, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, it has recently diversified by offering online diploma programs.

A refresher course is included for students who need it. The modules follow the national framework, ensuring good preparation for exams.

The online support offers content available for up to 3 years:

  • Written courses
  • Live courses or available as replays
  • Videos and podcasts freely available

A two-day in-person internship in the Paris region to prepare for the ATA exam (Technological Food Activities) is available.

The educational advisor mentions quality teachers, dietitians and chefs, names them and cites their profiles on social networks. A human approach seems to be at the heart of the process by explaining the interactions between student and teacher, the corrections and the possibilities for questions and answers.

There is personalized support with a subject-matter expert for technical questions, and a coach for motivation and other questions.

One downside in my view: memory coaching is paid, as with many schools. However, the price of the all-inclusive training remains within the average range and is not the highest on the market.

With a strong professional network, L’atelier des Chefs offers good prospects for both internships and post-graduate employment.

A ‘recruitment forum’ is also available to students. Entrepreneurship coaching is also offered as an additional service and may be suitable depending on your project.

e-diderot

E-Diderot : 15/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★
Costs: ★★★★
Career prospects: ★★★

Price: €2,990 – €6,700 – Eligible for CPF funding

E-Diderot justifies its rather high fee by its expertise, the breadth of its materials and content and its personalized follow-ups. Despite several criticisms from former students and former teachers pointing to the institution’s sometimes overly commercial approach, campus access is a real “plus” and it ranks in the top 3.

Advantages

  • Many years of experience teaching this BTS
  • Open house events
  • Partner network thanks to the Groupe Diderot Education
  • Access for remote students to co-working spaces on campus
  • Live cooking classes to prepare for the ATA

Disadvantages

  • High cost
  • Platform accessible only 2 years (+ catch-up period), then you have to pay again
  • Negative feedback from students and teachers about the school’s structural framework

E-Diderot is part of the Diderot Éducation group, active in higher education for more than twenty years and, from the outset, in dietetics and human nutrition.

The school has evolved with new technologies, offering interactive distance learning programs certified by Qualiopi. Modern digital tools like an app and an intuitive platform are among their selling points.

Flexible plans from “Initial” to “Complete” are offered to meet students’ needs and budgets.

However, the most comprehensive plans seem the most pedagogically interesting and therefore the most expensive. These are the “Enhanced” and “Complete” plans.

They, of course, include the e-learning platform, but also individual pedagogical coaching, virtual classes, several mock exams, a thesis review, everything necessary to be ready to take the exam.

I really like the active pedagogy highlighted: providing lessons before class time, so they are accessible at any time, before and after exercises.

As well as the ability to physically access the nearest campuses. For students who feel alone or who need to work outside the home, this is a significant advantage.

E-Diderot also offers many very interesting additional options, which are, once again, fee-based: for example, funded training for an athlete to receive nutritional support.

etudis

Etudis (Adonis) : 14/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★
Costs: ★★★★
Career prospects: ★★★

Price: €1,450 – €6,600 – Fundable via CPF

The Adonis group brings many years of experience in both in-person and distance learning. But ultimately, their offering doesn’t stand out from others and remains vague about student support and the culinary internship.

Advantages

  • Many years of experience teaching this BTS
  • Open house events
  • Student card
  • Personalized corrections
  • In-person cooking internship possible (Easter period)

Disadvantages

  • High cost
  • Platform accessible only 2 years, then you have to pay again
  • No mobile app
  • Uncertainties regarding the in-person internship and the number of mock exams
  • Some testimonials report communication problems and insufficient support

Recognized for its expertise in dietetics and paramedical care, Etudis, of the ADONIS group specializing in health and nutrition training, has been offering a remote version for about ten years.

All instructors are professionals in the subjects they teach, and a space is dedicated to student-teacher interactions. Phone appointments are available depending on the chosen option.

Indeed, four different packages provide access to personalized support, live classes, and oral simulations.

Again, the cost is fairly steep when certain options—yet essential to the successful completion of this remote program—are selected.

Another point: a refresher course is reportedly mandatory for students without a science background (additional cost).

Courses are structured using paper and digital materials. Regular assignments are required to assess knowledge and personalized corrections are provided.

Adonis mentions an option for in-person cooking classes in certain cities, provided enough students are registered (no further details).

A widened professional network for internships highlights potential opportunities. Additionally, two programs after the BTS in Dietetics are offered there, which may interest future graduates.

academee

Academee (Studi) : 14/20

Pedagogy: ★★★★
Support: ★★★★
Costs: ★★★
Career prospects: ★★★

Price: €3,890 – Eligible for CPF funding

The school highlights its e-learning expertise and career coaching to support each project. The educational approach is less convincing, with courses accessible only step by step, a lack of clarity about the number of mock exams available and the possibility to obtain the diploma in 1 year.

Advantages

  • Career coaching
  • Teachers’ qualifications
  • Modern educational tools (app, e-learning partnership)
  • Assistance with thesis writing advertised as included
  • Promise of interaction with teachers and quick responses to your questions

Disadvantages

  • Platform available for only 2 years
  • Courses not immediately available but unlocked gradually over time
  • Option to complete the BTS in 1 year

In 1999, Studi and the M6 group created a 100% online school called Academee. This corresponded to the early days of the internet. In 2021, Studi and Academee launched into training future healthcare professionals.

E-learning and numerous digital partnerships (such as Galileo Global Education) show a real desire to offer innovative and engaging tools for learning.

The platform, available for 2 years, is also accessible via an app: over 4,000 live courses delivered by dietitians, doctors and specialized professors, replays, courses downloadable as PDFs…

Academee also provides access to student-to-student chats and encourages student-teacher exchanges. They promise answers to questions within a maximum of 24 hours.

I found little information regarding help with writing the thesis and its requirement for the exam on the site. But I received information by phone: support with a dedicated instructor would be included.

One piece of information that would be useful to know in my opinion is: the number of mock exams included in the program.

Finally, the school emphasizes the career coaching included in the program. It corresponds to 40 hours of tutorials to help with internship searches, promote professional integration, and obtain a “Ready for work” certificate.

Academee therefore presents a certain professional realism, without providing a genuine professional network either. However, I found it unrealistic that completing this BTS in one year was mentioned repeatedly, both on the website and over the phone.

IFSNM

IFSNM : 10/20

Pedagogy: ★★★
Support: ★★
Costs: ★★★
Career prospects: ★★

Price: €4,850 – Eligible for CPF funding

This training institute is specialized exclusively in the field of nutrition. For this first year, there is limited insight regarding the exact number of mock exams, the actual personalized support a student might receive, and the diploma to be completed in one year. The fee is fairly high.

Advantages

  • Commitment to personalized support
  • Interactive and engaging teaching methods
  • Approach to the profession with a focus on micronutrition, phytotherapy…

Disadvantages

  • High cost
  • Limited track record (first year since creation)
  • Option to complete the BTS in 1 year
  • Only one mock exam
  • Lack of clarity regarding individualized tutoring sessions

The Higher Institute for Training in Nutrition and Micronutrition (IFSNM) offers the BTS Dietetics remotely for the first year. This 100% online program was created by healthcare professionals

The teaching team also includes scientists: pharmacists and dietitians.

The institute aims to provide extensive pedagogical support. For the moment, tutoring is estimated at an average of 10 sessions per year.

IFSNM highlights an interactive pedagogy with quizzes, virtual classes, and practical exercises as part of continuous assessment, while offering long-term access to resources after the program.

However, over the phone, this information is contradicted since I was told access would last only 24 months. Only one mock exam is planned for now.

The BTS is also possible in one year, in an intensive format. Over the phone, I mentioned a potential need for a refresher for non-scientists; the response seemed rather unrealistic to me: ‘it’s not necessary’.

Although the institute values personalized support, assistance with finding internships and post-graduation professional life does not appear to be a priority at the moment.

I find the approach to the profession interesting, with a focus on nutrition and micronutrition. Qualified dietitians can also choose a specialized training program.

My advice on how to choose the right online BTS in Dietetics

It’s not easy to choose the right program. The stakes are high because preparing for the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur in Dietetics remotely can be more difficult than in person.

A commercial interest certainly drives these private schools, but that’s also true for in-person training. Representatives can be more or less convincing without proving the quality of the content delivered afterward.

I therefore advise you to compare prices as well as financing options according to your situation. Also pay attention to the flexibility and practical tools you need.

Another tip: don’t hesitate to contact former students to learn their opinions and experiences. To do this, simply perform a keyword search on LinkedIn.

Self-discipline, organizational skills, your scientific skills and your motivation are the main assets that will make the biggest difference.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How much does a distance-learning BTS in Dietetics cost?

The cost of a distance-learning BTS in Dietetics ranges from €2,100 to €7,000 per year, depending on the institution and the educational options chosen. Many schools offer payment facilities, with installments possible in several interest-free payments, spread over monthly installments. Additionally, it is possible to receive financial assistance, notably through the CPF (Personal Training Account), FranceTravail, or regional subsidies, to reduce the cost or to obtain full coverage of the training.

Can you complete a distance-learning BTS in Dietetics in one year?

Some schools do indeed offer the BTS Dietetics program via distance learning in one year. This format requires covering the entire program planned for two years, writing the thesis, and completing the 20 weeks of required internships within a single year. The success rate for this one-year BTS remains unknown and suggests a very intense pace that may not be suitable for everyone.

Are there internships during an online BTS in Dietetics program?

The BTS Dietetics includes a total of 20 weeks of internships over the two years of training. These internships are mandatory, whether the coursework is completed in-person or online.

Does CNED offer a distance-learning BTS in Dietetics?

Among distance learning offerings, the CNED is a long-established national public provider. It offers the BTS Dietetics as well as a BTS Dietetics preparatory course for people without a scientific background. The standard fee (without options) is €2,190 for an estimated 1,500 hours of study.

What is the success rate for distance-learning BTS in Dietetics?

Schools offering the BTS Dietetics remotely generally do not publish a specific success rate, instead referring to the national success rate reported by the rectorates. On average, the success rate for the BTS Dietetics is 40 to 50%. This figure includes all candidates, whether they completed their training in-person or remotely.
